Coded in Flash with ActionScript and PHP.
This program tracks the user's mouse movement during a simple clicking accuracy test and then displays the results alongside several other recent test-takers. The data visualization was designed to be both artistically interesting and informative. It allows users to compare their test scores with others and possibly gain useful conclusions from them. Did the user move directly to the next target? Did they overshoot the target? Were movement patterns present that could be seen as a strategy for predicting the placement of the next target?
Considering that the mouse is generally the most widely used interaction method for computers, I had hoped that this test might be a way for users to fine-tune their mouse skills or perhaps adjust their mouse settings to get the best accuracy at the highest speed.
